I have a few that spring to mind.

Get on top of my finances. I get so close to this so often and then it all blows up.

Start looking at career options. I have a full time job and one hesitates to rock that boat but it isn't terribly fulfilling.

Alternatively, get some of that career fulfillment elsewhere but stick with the steady income.

Re: NaNoReMo 2010: What the What?

Great idea. And since Easter, I've continued the habit, writing every day if I can. I wouldn't have gotten in that habit without that inspiration, and I hope your writing continues to progress as you've hoped!

Re: What Is More Disturbing?

In the city, I would have just assumed it was the bad men. Out here in the country, we have whole new sets of sounds.

Re: Lent 2010: Week 2

When I was studying for the bar exam, i used to sit down and make charts of all the time I was going to devote to studying each particular subject. In reality, I consistently spent about half the time I had budgeted and spent the rest of the time at the swimming pool or watching 'Daria' marathons on MTV. (It was the first time I'd ever had my own apartment and I didn't have to work, it was awesome). I did fine on the exam, and the goals still helped -- I had just built in an awful lot of slack.

So what i'm saying is, it sounds like you're on the right track even if it's slower than you want it to be. Also, I'm really glad you didn't hurt!

Re: Lenten Promise 2010: Week 1 Judgement Day

Hehe, you still crack me up.

Re: My Lenten Promise: 2010

I loved the Catholic theology rationalization that you did up there. That was golden. I have similar goals for Lent. I need to be more productive in prepping the several academic projects I want to get rolling when i/ I get into grad school. That means less internet time devoted to hobby and interests, more time trying to figure out how to merge those interests with the things which could theoretically make me money.

In short, it's time for me to become an adult.

Re: My Lenten Promise: 2010

I like your article and your rationalization. Now in days of old (my days) the choices were to either give up something you liked or doing something positive. An example is we would give up candy and then give the money we would have spent to the missions for the poor children in Pakistan. (Pakistan, you ask? My nuns had missions there.) I think your choice of writing everyday is a very positive action. I wish you well and hope very much that you succeed. I look forward to reading some. (But Sundays don't count!)

Re: My Lenten Promise: 2010

This is an excellent idea! I've never participated in Lent -- it's not part of my religious upbringing -- but I've always admired when people use it to do something positive for themselves. You can pick up a copy on amazon.com, or simon and schuester online. This is the guy who played Macbeth by the way. There are also 50 minutes of special features which are pretty darn cool. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Let folks know they should buy a copy.
